Outer Banks Beach, Surf & Fishing Report: 8/14/13 — Windy Wednesday Morning

Good morning this is Brandon from Seaside Vacations with your Outer Banks Beach, Surf & Fishing Report for Wednesday, August 14, 2013.

The weather on the beach this morning has been better. The wind is blowing at 20+mph and it’s raining. Later today expect the same conditions as this morning. Today might be a better day for shopping and dining if you’re on the Outer Banks.

Surf conditions this morning are poor — the wind is creating choppy conditions and the waves are only about 1-2ft in height. The best part about the ocean today is the warm ocean water temps in the mid-70s. We recommend not going in the ocean today. There is supposed to be a nice swell tomorrow so save your energy for 24hrs from now.

Surf and pier fishing is poor. The wind is blowing too hard to really fish from. Charter offshore boats had a great day yesterday and caught plenty of Dolphins and some Yellowfin Tuna. The Pirates Cove Billfish Tournament is still going on and 46 billfish were caught and released just yesterday.
